You probably left wet clothes in there for an extended period. Make sure your clothes are completely spun out before placing in the dryer. Also be certain that you are using the correct heat setting. Check your dryer vent for obstructions to be sure the moist air is able to escape.

There is probably water condensation in or around your dryer. Look at the temperature and the humidity level in your region. Also, you should look into the dryer ventilation and ensure that it is free of debris would could increase the amount of humidity contained in the area going to your dryer.

I was told this by a repair person that the rubber band inside causes that smell, it's an easy fix to replace it and it costs around $10 to $30 and your dryer will be like new.

Usually when a musty smell occurs in a dryer the vent is either clogged or loose. Move the dryer away from the wall and check the vent for a clog. You can also use a vaccum to clean out loose lint that may prevent the dryer from drying, and keeping the musty smell.

I find you get a musty smell if wet clothing has sat to long. The best way I find to fix it is when nothing else is in there put in some bleach and let it run a cycle. That going to kill any nasty smells in there.
