Question by  gnewsom (2)

My Whirlpool dryer is overheating. I've replaced the thermal fuse twice and checked vent for blockage. The coils get bright red. What could be wrong?

It gets very hot behind the dryer and smells like something is burning after running for about a minute. Does the thermostat need to be replaced or is this something else?

You should check for blockages in the exhaust hose and in the dryer leading to the exhaust hose. A blockage could be not allowing the heat to escape, causing overheating.

It doesn't sound like its getting enough air flow. Check the filter and see if that is clogged. The vent may not be clogged but is the blower inside the dryer putting enough air through the machine?

the coils could be bad or it is over heating because it is getting to much power to the coils check to see is your adapter is working right
