It may have been hybernating. As they come out of it, hamsters sometimes shake. Hamsters hybernate when they are cold; even if the temperature only drops a few degrees. It's hard on their bodies to hibernate and wake up repeatedly so try to keep the temperature around 70degrees.

Hamsters generally shake when they're cold, in other cases it can be a form of arthritis. Try to keep the hamster in a warm dry area of the house and keep a lot of bedding in the cage you are keeping it in if that doesn't help consult a veterinarian.

The first thing you need to remember is that your hamster is a mammal. So if it is shaking chances are your hampster is cold. You could also check its temperture and check to see if it has a cold that can also cause the animal to shake.

It could be any number of reasons. Hamsters have several diseases that can be easily fixed by going to the vet. When my hamster was shaking, I took her to the vet and found out that she had a disease called wet nose. I got some drops for her water and she was all better!

Some days my Suzie wakes up and won't stop shaking. If I wrap her in a warm blanket and give her some fruit, she normally stops straight away. If yours has been shaking that long wrap her in a blanket, put her in a carrier and take her to thevet.

My hamster is new to my home and she's about 1. My room is quite cold and she shakes quite often and doesn't like me to hold her that much. If I add some more bedding I am frightened she'll suffocate. Please help xx

Hamsters shake when they are overly-stressed, such as when you've handled them too harshly or too much. Let him/her be in its cage for a couple of days and he should stop. My hamster shook also. Oh, and he could be cold.

I got my hamster about a 4 weeks ago and she just started shaking when she was sitting in my lap. She shook about 10 times then stoped. So I also need some help. I guess if it gets any worse I will take her to the vet.

Oh, I almost forgot. They also sometimes shake when their super scared, such as when you rush through taming or you surprise them. Again, just leave her alone in her cage.  add a comment
