Something is wrong with the fish's swim bladder. It could be due to poor water quality. Or the fish could have gulped too much air when eating. It could also be a bacterial infection. Partial water changes, feeding shelled green peas, and medications could cure it.

The most common reason of that behaviour is a poor oxigenation of the water: if your set has a pump check it, otherwise change part of the water regularly.

Your fish will swim with its head up if it is too cold in the water. Raise the water temperature.

1. Due to not changing the water regularly. 2. Due to putting unwanted waste like salt, chilli etc, into the water, which causes bacteria. 3. Due to lack of oxygen inside the water. 4. Due to low quality of water, where it is difficult for them to take air while eating.

If your fish is swimming upside down it is dead. If it is still living it may be only partially on it's side and just sick. Check and make sure the water is clean.

Well it is probably swimming like that because it is not feeling well. Look into your fish and feed it properly and see the difference it will feel in a few days.
