Why is my am radio reception so poor inside my house?

AM radio signals are much lower frequency as compared to FM. Also AM is a lot more prone to be effected by interference such as electricity.

Well radio waves don't like to pass through solid objects like walls. So unless you have a lot of windows or live close to a tower then the signal weakens.

AM radio stands for amplitude modulation. AM waves do not alter the frequency and have a difficult time penetrating through any sort of structure as a result.
