She actually is not. She's derivative in her "shelfishism". Nietszche and Shoppenhauer have many parallels much more developed than her.

While many professional philosophers in the Anglo-American tradition look down on the work of Ayn Rand, she has a continued appeal to the public because of her defense of libertarianism.
