If you are a follower of Christianity many believe that Christ died at Age 33 at 3pm, hence 333. This is then the basis for 3am being the devil's hour and the significance of 33 as it is the opposite of this.

The reason why some people call 3:33 am the 'witching hour' is because most people wake up at that time if something disturbs you from the deep sleep stage. Some people say that they have woken up at around that time to find TV's turned on, or footsteps. Basically people say that this is a paranormal phenomenon.

It's thought that around this time, the barrier between this world and the next is the thinnest, so this is when witches, ghosts, demons, goblins, etc are at their most powerful. Most people consider midnight to be the witching hour, however.

Its acctualy pretty simple. Like in most religions 3 is a number of power. So having 3, three times over must have much more "magical" power. So in theory the three 3's in the sequence empower eachother and those who read it. Thats what most peopl belived a 1,000 years ago.
