Why does my transmission slip when I use overdrive?

Chances are that your transmissions gearing is wearing out or fluid levels may be low. If your overdrive gear is the only affected gear, check your fluid and try changing the filter and fluid. if that doesn't help, you may be in need of more repair.

it could be a number of different things causing the problem. your overdrive band inside the transmission could be bad or the servo that activates the band. or if you just filled it make sure you didn't over fill it.

Your transmission can slip for a number of reasons. One of the most common reason is a lack of transmission fluid inside the transmission. This can be fixed by adding oil when needed.
