Why does my cat make that weird noise?

It sounds like a spitting noise.

Your cat could be enticing you to play- they have hunting/catching instincts that require this. However, that spitting noise usually indicates Kitty is ticked off and feeling threatened. You should stop whatever you are doing to cause that, and either give puss space, or find out what is angering him.

Most likely your cat is just trying to spit up a hairball or something else that got caught in his curious mouth. However, if it's more of a gutteral, from the throat, type sound, it could be indicative of a cold.

A spitting noise could mean one of two things. It could be because your cat is feeling aggressive, defensive or angry perhaps towards another animal, a stranger or new food or furniture in your home. Or it could be a spitting sneeze that might be indicative of an allergy or a bit of a cold.

Cats make all types of wierd noises. Take note of what else is occuring when this all happens - this will tell you why.

I play with my cat and when I walk by it and don't want to play it spits and it me an rolls around on its belly. So I don't by that it is angry or unhappy. It wants me to continue playing with it.
