Why do people say they are Christian when they don't live by the Bible?

Lets not be too judgmental. People often do the best they can, with the understanding they have at the time. Throughout our lives we grow and evolve, and hopefully mature into good and decent people. What counts most is how we behave, not what we say.

i think there are people that do this with all sorts of groups... they claim adherence because they like the feeling of being in the group, but they dont follow through with a true understanding of what the group is about.

People can always claim to be adherents of a certain faith, but others tend to judge their sincerity by their everyday behavior. For some people, claiming to be a devout Christian gives them immediate social credibility, even if they only pay lip service to the moral codes in the Bible.

Christian's live to the principles that Jesus embodied. To live strictly by the Bible would be very challenging and in modern society, almost impossible.

Christianity, like many other things, is something that can be performed for others when he suits the actor. Other Christians may simply be trying their best. Also, people say they live by the Bible, but have no idea what the text really says. Perverts.

Being a Christian is different from living by the Bible. Bible is a holy book which teaches righteous way of living. But a boy or a girl becomes christian either when he is born to a Christian parents or if converted. This world is filled with so many evils that people are unable live by Bible.

Christianity is about a relationship with Christ more than it is about following a set of rules found in any book. Christians should be trying to be like Jesus. If they are striving for that they will be following the Bible, but they are not perfect.
