People will wear whatever style they like. Just because oyu find something tacky doesn't mean that other people will. There are a lot of different styles out there and there are a lot of different types of people to enjoy the different styles. The only thing you can do is laugh on the inside at what you don't like.

Perhaps it is because they are tacky. Some people get great joy out of rubbing people the wrong way, or being outrageously different. If this particular shirt gets them noticed it has accomplished its purpose. It's also possible that this was the only thing clean in the room, you know.
