Why do people get piercings and tattoos?

I have tatts and piercings. My tatts all have a meaning to me and it is something I can carry with me for the rest of my life. I wouldn't change them for noone. My hubby doesn't even have tattoos or piercings, but to each is their own.... I love them.

People see them as a way to adorn their bodies and accessorize and express themselves through tattoos or piercings, rather like following the latest fashion.

I believe the reason why people do it is do give a different definition to themselves. Every piercing and tattoo is unique and has a meaning to that specific person. Everyone has a different opinion but that is why everyone has their own body.

Usually because they want to be different than most of people. They want to be more visible and make themselves the object of attention. Also piercings and tattoos may be reminders of some important things in their life.
