Dogs rely on their sense of smell and taste to communicate. Both senses incorporate the tongue in one way or another. By licking you, your dog is checking your health, where you've been and who was with you. Licking is also a grooming behavior, which helps maintain pack bonds.

Humans have a lot of sweat glands in their feet. When you sweat you secret a lot of salt - dogs like salt. Also you may be using some sort of soap that smells tasty to your pup.
