The most important thing to most bulimics is their weight. That's why it's an eating disorder. The damage to the teeth is secondary in their priorities. Looking thin is the most important thing. This disorder also damages the heart and digestive system.

While anyone suffering from bulimia can have their own reasons for being bulimic many suffer from body dysmorphic disorder. Essentially they have a poor self image which can be caused or exasperated by society's standard of beauty, social pressures, or low self-esteem.

A person with bulimia is generally more concerned with their weight and how they are perceived by the outside world, than what will happen to their teeth. Frequent vomiting can cause tooth decay, acid destruction of their teeth, and a swollen face. Bulimics throw up to purge all of the food they consume so that they don't gain weight.
