Why did Little Bow Wow drop the "little"?

As he grew up, he did not want to be associated with the image of a little kid. If he left the word Little in his name, it makes him appear immature.

Snoop Dogg named Shad Gregory Moss (b. March 9, 1987) "Lil Bow Wow," because of the similarities he saw between himself and the 13-year-old. In 2003, at the ripe old age of 16, he told MTV, ""I changed my name because I'm getting older now and it's too many Lil's."
