Why are they called "teddy bear" hamsters?

The most common reasons given for calling these hamsters, "teddy bear" is because of their long, soft hair and because of the color of their belly hair. They resemble toy teddy bears because of this hair. They are actually a variety of the Syrian hamster. They may not look exactly like bears, but then neither do toy teddy bears!

these hamster get there name from their actions. Just like a teddy bear these animals are very furry, and will let you cuddle and hold them.

No but they stand up like bears ad that is why they are called teddy bear hamsters. They can be cuddly too so that is why they are probally called teddy bears.Being that unlike other hamsters they have long fuzzy hair and not the short hair like the "regualr" ones
