Why are there so many Starbucks coffee shops?

The sell a product (fancy/expensive coffee drinks) that can only be found at starbucks in some areas of the country.

The problem with popular stores is they trend to go over board on store openings, and not offer enough employees per store to make the lines shorter. Starbucks is no different in both respects, but if we are lucky, they will change, not holding my breathe though.

Starbucks are all owned by the business, and are not a franchise. Putting a Starbucks on every corner means a competitor won't be able to take that spot.
