These patches are common on all dogs. The patches can be a result of a bacterial or fungal infection. They may need to be vet treated.

That could be caused from a number of things the most likely is the dog has an allergy to something and it has scratched the hair off leaving dry skin.

Most dogs develop dry patches because of seasonal allergies. Other causes may be a recent run in with a substance that causes irritation.

It could be either dry skin or maybe even skin cancer. My dog had skin cancer and it cost a lot of money to get him tested.

Dogs can get dry patches just like humans can. Before you take him to the vet assess changes in his environment (e. g. is it the dry winter air, did you use any new shampoo, did you use a new flea preventative, did you use a new cleaning chemical- remember dogs lay on the carpet! )

The various breeds of canines can suffer from dry patches of skin just like humans. Bathe her less and let her natural skin oils lubricate and repair the skin.

You can take the Lab to the bet to check out the possibility of food allergies. There also could be a possibility of parasites causing the dryness. Theres also a possibility that your Lab may hve some type of infection and could benefit from antibiotics and medicated shampoo.
