Because on Mondays the Digital Entertainment Group releases domestic DVD sales figures. Therefore a Tuesday release will allow a full week to elapse before the next sales figures are reported.
The studios set a uniformed release date for when new release videos will be available to the public. Currently Tuesday is the day when the studios typically release videos for sale to the public.
