The picture on the US $50 bill is the 18th president of the United States, Ulysses S. Grant. Grant's full name was Hiram Ulysses Grant, but he accepted the name Ulysses Simpson Grant to avoid entering West Point with his initials being H.U.G.

The picture on the $50 dollar Bill is Ulysses S. Grant, 18th President of the US and a War General in the Civil War. I read a little about him and they said in 2010 it was proposed to change the picture of Grant and put Ronald Reagan instead but too many Americans wanted Grant.
