Emoticons was claimed to have been started with Scott Fahlman's use of the :-)smiley back in 1982, to help clarify the tone of a message over the computer.
Emoticons first began when a telegraph Operator Guide in 1857 documented the use of the number 73 in Morse code to express love and kisses. Typograhical emoticons were introduced in 1881 when they appeared in the U. S magazine puck.
