For most toddlers, a Graco Pack N Play is an excellent choice. It has the light weight and quick setup/breakdown a parent needs in a travel bed. It also offers most of the safety considerations of a crib. Some toddlers are too strong for a travel bed an would be safer on a mattress on the floor.

Having 11 grandchildren, I am experienced with numerous makes/models; however, the most secure, safe and comfortable travel bed that I have used is the Pea Pod by Kidco. This bed has an inflatable mattress and washable pad for easy clean-up. It requires little storage space and fits in a suitcase for travel. It is a dream.

It depends on what size of bed you are looking for and the age of the child. that said, as a bed/playpen combo i travel with a Kolcraft Travelin' tot 2-in-1. Most products offered through traditional or non direct import sites will meet minimal safety requirements, however.

Try the Child's Portable Air Matress Bed, it is inflatable and has added security with bed rails for children just learning to sleep outside of the crib. It also inflates in 60 seconds!

I found several toddler travel bed that looked safe and comfortable for a child. One was made by Pea Pod and resembled a small tent. It sat on the floor and had a zippered flap so there were no bars to stick heads thru or distance to fall.

Walmart sells a air mattress toddler bed that has slightly raised edges to keep them from rolling out. Because of the way it is constructed it is very safe. It will not coral your toddler, but it will provide a comfortable safe place for him to sleep and is ultra portable.
