I would suggest going with SwissGear bags. They're very large but the weight is distrubuted well. The pockets are large but sectioned off so you can still fit a lot on there but not feel like you can't find anything. They're very duarble.

They make a camping backpack that has compartments for equipment inside, and has outside pouches for waterbottles and portable music players. I'm guessing by "big" you mean one for backpacking and/or hiking. I'd say one from The North Face is your best bet. They have a good variety of sizes and styles for all purposes. My North Face pack went all over Europe and still looks brand new, nice and sturdy.
