The patron saint of England is Saint George. Saint George is the leading character in one of the best poems of all time in the English language entitled Spencer's Faerie Queene. Saint George of England appears in the poem in the first book as protector of the Virgin. In life he was a Roman priest in the Guard of Diocletian.
