Ares was the ancient Greek God of offensive warfare; often thought to be more accurately the god of blood-thirst, terror and all things negative. Athena was the female God of Defensive Warfare, Wisdom, Strategy and of Heroes.
The Greek god of war is called Ares. He's the son of Zeus and Hera and portrayed as violent and brutish - basically, blood thirstiness portrayed in the male form.
