Albert Pierrepoint (the spelling is correct!) was a British hangman who died in 1992. His father before him was a hangman and Albert himself is said to have executed over 400 people, In his autobiography written in mature years he came to the view that he did not support the death penalty which is now abolished in the United Kingdom.

He is quite famous in the UK as being a the most infamous member of a family of executioners, or hangmen as they were called at the time. It is believed that he executed in excess of over 400 people during his time as executioner.
