In 1876, Melville Bissell created the first vacuum for his wife to help her clean up the house. British inventor H. Cecil Booth created the first electric powered vacuum in 1901.

The modern day vacuum cleaner was invented by a man named Booth around 1901 but the original design for a foor sweeper was made by a man named Mcgaffey in 1869.

The vacuum cleaner was invented by Daniel Hess in 1860. Ives W. McGaffey invented the first manually-powered cleaner using vacuum principles known as the "Whirlwind" in 1868. Melville Bissell in 1876 created a vacuum for his wife to clean up sawdust in the carpeting. Bissell Carpet Sweepers was born. The first motor-driven vacuum was invented by John Thurman in 1899.

Many people say this guy or that guy invented it but we really kind of don't know because it was so long ago to really be documented. It was about in the 1800's when electronically things were new to people and things. Best thing is to do some research and have them guide you.

A guy named hoover I think invented it. You can look it up online to find out. Or ask someone who sales vacuums.

The first vacuum was invented by HC Booth, and later it was taken up by Cecil Booth. that is why in the market, it was heard as Booth's vacuum.
