No one alive today knows which specific person invented popcorn, but it was invented by Native Americans. The first Europeans to colonize the Americas discovered popcorn when the Native tribes showed it too them. Some sources indicate the Natives told the Europeans an angry god lived in the kernel and exploded with anger when his house became too hot.

Although no one is really sure, it is believed that popcorn was invented by Native American Indians. It is said they would throw ears of corn into a fire and it would pop. Not only was it used for food, but also making jewelry. Popcorn has been traced to the Incas and Aztecs as early as the the sixteenth century.
