There are many artists who use pastel to create art such as James Abbott McNeill Whistler, Edgar Degas, Rosalba Carriera, Leon Dabo, Jean-Baptiste-Siméon Chardin, Maurice Quentin de La Tour. There are entire groups dedicated to pastel work such as "International Association of Pastel Societies". My personal favorite would be Mary Cassatt. Even laymen often appreciate Mary Cassatt pastel art work.

Some are Jean LeGassick, Debra Huse, Cynthia Britain, Kathleen Dunphy, Peggi Kroll-Roberts, Jeanette Le Grue, Camille Przewodek, Carolyn Lord, Zenaida Mott, Kate Starling and Anita Hampton, Aine Divine, Margaret Dyer, Brian Allen Adams, Becky Hicks-Roelser, Diana De Saints, Dianna Ponting, Ivan Jones (really good), and Nicora Gangi. Jeanna Smith is one great artist. You can find her work on You Tube. Also Edgar Dundas is another pastel artist. If you would like to learn more you should google pastel artists. The first link is very good.
