Shampoos with salicylic acid (use to make aspirin) are used to treat are used effectively to treat control seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff. There are several over-the-counter products as well as a number of perscription shampoos that contain salicylic acid.

Due to its effect on skin cells and its chemical properties, it removes dandruff effectively.
