K2 is on the border between Pakistan and China. Its real name is K2 - it was named by Thomas Montgomerie, who made the first survey of the Karakoram range where K2 is located. K2 is the second tallest mountain on Earth (after Mount Everest) and stands 28,251 feet tall.

K2 is the widely accepted name. The name comes from the way a surveyor identified the mountain. Since no local names are widely recognized, K2 has stuck.
