The greatest accomplishments of President James K. Polk is his role in the expansion of the United States of America. Under his presidency, the United States acquired most of what would become the Oregon Territory. In addition, his administration saw ths annexation of Texas and the war with Mexico. As a result, the U. S. acquired California and New Mexico.

James Polk was the 11th president of the United States. He secured New Mexico and California from Mexico. He also secured the Oregon Territory from Britain.
