Which is better: an electric cooktop or a gas cooktop?

Consider this: there is not one restaurant or food preparation facility in the world that uses an electric range. There's a reason for that. The ONLY reason to get an electric range/cooktop is that there is no gas line. Even then, it's worth investigating the cost to run one in.

Generally, cooking is better with a gas cook top and it tends to be more efficient than electric. However, if you don't have a gas line, electric is easier.

While electric cooktops are much easier to upkeep, gas cooktops give you more precise cooking and better control of temperature which keeps you from burning foods.

I would recommend purchasing a gas stove for a couple of reasons. The most important being that if the electrical power goes out you will still be able to cook using the gas stove.

You can't use a grill on an electric or you'll crack the glass. You also can't roast a marshmallow or hot dog on an electric.
