Champagne has Carbon dioxide in it.... the fizzy stuff; which means it stays in your stomach only a short time before it makes its way into your small intestine. Anytime something is metabolized quickly.... and not sitting in your stomach for a prolonged period... it is considered "less caloric."

Champagne is considered the "models" drink ... b/c it won't make you fat. It's one of the few alcohols permitted in the Beverly Hills Diet... provided you don't consume it along with any fat or protein. You can only consume it with other carbs while drinking it. it's true!

It depends. The average 6oz glass of white wine has 120 calories. 6oz of red or rose wine has about 128 calories. A sweet dessert wine can have up to 270 calories. A 6.5oz flute of champagne has 163 calories.

The amount of calories in wine or champagne depend entirely on the type of drink. Sweet wines such as Spumante will have more calories than dry wines such as Chablis. Brut Champagnes are drier and therefore lower in calories than demi sec or sweeter champagnes.
