The Ku Klux Klan, was founded in Pulaski, Tennessee by Confederate soldiers in the aftermath of the Civil War (also called the ?War Between the States.?) They chose to wear white robes and masks, so they could stage violent actions against the newly freed slaves and their supporters.

The first Ku Klux Klan was founded in Pulaski, Tennessee, on December 24, 1865. The founders were six confedertate veterans. Pulaski is a city in Giles County Tennessee and its county seat. As of the 2000 census 7,871 people were living in the city. Despite being famous as the birth place of the Klan, the city has condemned it.
