The classic comedy program "The Bob Newhart Show" (which ran from 1972 to 1978) was located in the Midwest, in Chicago, Illinois. In fact, the office building where Bob's office was supposed to be housed is on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. At that time, the building exterior shown was actually the site of a bank.

It was located in Chicago, Illinois. On the show opening he was shown walking Michigan Avenue before strolling across the Michigan Avenue Bridge.
