Check out freedownloadscenter. They have a section on Dashboards for project tracking. Some are shareware and a few are freeware. Read the reviews before you choose any.

I find the software from projectmanager. com to be very professional and will probably suit most needs. They have a free trial too. What kind of project and group size are you looming and how much work needs to be tracked?

Comindwork has a software that you can use for free. However the free version handles just one project and has a 20 MB limit. All the other higher versions have free trials and a pay as you use option. I'd suggest you try their online demo and their free version.
