The solar plexus is that area right at the bottom of your breastbone, below the center of your chest. It's a complex meeting place of nerves and connective tissue. A blow to this area has been known to kill, though mostly it just knocks the wind out of you. The word plexus refers to a dense complicated bundle of nerves.

The solar plexus is the bottom part of the sternum. The correct anatomical term for it is the xyphoid. It does not have anything to do with the sun.
