There should be a tag down on the side of the engine that lists model Number and serial number. It may be located underneath where the carbeurator is mounted. They are usually hard to see without a thorough inspection.

The numbers of the briggs and stratton engine are usually located on the vertical shaft or horizontal shaft. It depends on which series of the engine you purchased. Look at both.

The model number its on a silver tag which is engraved on the side of the engines usually near the deck of the machine

All model numbers for Briggs and Stratton engines is stamped into the valve cover on the engine. Also on new engines their should be a sticker on the back of the engine.

The model number will be stamped on the lawnmower near the spark plug. Often is it on a metal plate near the muffler. It can also be stamped on the metal shroud. The number will have three sections.
