Only the Federal Reserve Bank in your area can handle the trade of money. No matter what country it is from. The local banks usually only handle Canada and sometimes Mexico. Google with Reserve Bank information.

Some bigger banks will exchange money for you, you can also go to a bank exchange (you can find them at the airport) to exchange any currency into another one. Some bigger AAA offices can also exchange any extra money you have. Check the exchange rate to make sure you're getting a good rate.

1. Every international airport has a currency exchange office where international currencies can be exchanged. 2. Many major banks, especially those that offer international wire transfers, can also exchange this currency.

Portugal now uses Euros. You can exchange Euros for US Dollars at all Bureaux de change at airports or at any major banks in Europe or America. If you are looking to convert old Portuguese Escudos to Dollars, try converting them to Euros first.
