Most libraries and bookstores have an extensive selection of books on outdoor building projects, including swingsets. Do some initial research using these books. Some books tell you how to design your own plans whereas others provide pre-made plans. It is completely up to you which to choose. You can even buy complete swingset kits that only require assembly.

Any of your local Home stores have sets and plans to build a swingset. This way you can customize your set to your childs needs as a tot and older.
