Hobby Lobby does have free patterns hanging near their baby yarns and they also have booklets/books for sale in the needlecraft section. You can also look online for free patterns.

Hobby Lobby does carry yarns, hooks, and patterns. Another place to look for patterns would be at your local library. You could then photocopy the pattern so you don't have to keep the book while you are crocheting. Finally, you can find lots of crochet patterns, including baby blankets, online.
