When using Linux and you get the message that the card is not inserted in slot one and it is in there what could be wrong?

The thing that is most likely wrong is that you do not have the proper drivers for your slot one device installed. You should lookup what brand and make your slot one device is and find and install the drivers. Once you know what your slot one device is the drivers should be easy to find on the internet.

Make sure, that the card in the slot is properly mounted. If you have checked that, be sure to have choosen the right filesystem to mount.

you try to put in some other device and try to recover the data. this card may not be suitable for Linux so only it is showing the data.

make sure your memory card reader is HC compatible, if your memory card is SDHC of micro SDHC. if that doesn't work, try updating the driver for your memory card reader.
