Zucchinis are very easy to grow and may not necessarily need a fertilizer. However, if your soil is weak in nutrients fertilize the zucchini after the fruit has set. Do not fertilize prior to this. After the fruit has set, you can fertilize every 2-3 weeks.

Considered substantial feeders zucchini plants need to be fertilized at least twice during their growing season. Once as soon as the seedlings begin to appear and yet again as blossoms emerge and the fruit begins to set. After fertilizing, be sure to water right away and do not over fertilize, this will create smaller rather than larger fruit.

As soon as you see your first zucchini starting to form you need to fertilize. Be sure to read the instruction so you don't overdue it this can burn the plant. Also you need to fertilize the ground aroud the plant not the plant itself. As soon as you are done appling it be sure to water.
