You should fertlize your ladyfinger bananas every two months using 2 cups of 20-0-50 during the growing season. Also banana plants need plenty of water to look their best and produce fruit so water throughly at least twice a week. Mulch heavily with compost and organic matter to conserve moisture.

Your ladyfinger banana tree needs to be continually fertilized. Upon planting prepare the soil well. Use good soil, compost and chicken manure. Continue to mulch your tree and fertilize often.

One third is worked into the planting area when plants appear above ground, one third around about a foot out 2 months later, and one third double the distance 2 months after that. If deficiencies show there will need to be supplementary feedings.

All bananas are very rapid growers, and so they are heavy feeders. In warm weather fertilize once a month- amount will depend on the plant's maturity.

A mature plant may require as much as 1-1/2 to 2 pounds of 8:10:8 NPK fertilizer each month. Young plants need a quarter to a third as much.
