When is the next Hailey's comet appearance?

Answer by  Alicia (25)

The next appearence of Hailey's comet is predicted in year 2061. This prediction is possible due to the fact that the comet comes close to our planet every 76 years, and all of its appearances have been documented for over 2000 years. The last appearance took place on the 9th February 1986.

Halley's comet is predicted to reappear in 2061, having last appeared in 1986. While the comet's orbit around the sun is generally considered to take 76 years, the gravitational influence of other bodies in the solar system has been predicted to slightly hasten its arrival this time around.

The comet was named after Edmund Halley, who was to first to recognize that the comet had been observed multiple times throughout history.
