When does the moon have the greatest effects on the tides? Is it during the full moon or the new moon?

Actually both full and new moons have the same effect on earth tides (these are spring tides or the largest high tides and lowest low tides). The quarter moon has the least effect on earth tides because the pull of the sun and moon cancel each other (these are neap tides or the weakest tides)
