You can wear red nail polish whenever you want to. If you are going somewhere nice you might want to match it with your outfit. Like say your going to prom and want to wear a red dress, then it would look really put together to paint your nails red.

You could use your hair color as a guide,since there are many different shades of red to choose from.Generally,your outfit would be a darker color than your nail polish,but that could depend on what kind of jewelry you are wearing.

I would try to coordinate your nail color with your clothing color, or with your other accessories. You don't want it clashing with your clothes.

I wear red nail polish when I go to places that I need to dress up for. Since red is a seductive color, I usually wear it with a black or read dress and I feel that it looks best with hair worn down because it adds a bit of sex appeal.

I wear red nail polish when i wear red dress and especially when i wear heavy make up. I prefer to go by my outfit instead of hair color.

Since it is a very visible choice, your nails should be attractive and well cared for. Red can be worn by anyone meeting this requirement.
