Pancreatic test is usually done to rule out pancreatic pathology as a cause of abdominal pain. Commonly the blood levels of enzymes amylase and lipase are checked. Significantly elevated levels could indicate towards Acute pancreatitis[inflammed pancreas]. This is mostly secondary to biliary calculi or chronic alcoholism or rarely due to drugs.

The test is performed to find out how well your pancreas is functioning. The test itself is performed with a tube inserted down your throat to remove secretions so they can be tested. The negative results could include pancreatitis or cystic fibrosis, however, only your doctor can interpret these results and what they mean for you.
