Stephen King published his novel "Christine" in 1983. It was released after "Cujo", but before "Pet Cemetery" which also came out in 1983. "Christine" is a story about a 1958 Plymouth Fury which is possessed by some sort of force that can be angry and jealous. The character of Christine appeared in two other King novels, "IT" and "The Stand."

The novel Christine was published in April of 1983, while the novel Pet Semetary was published in October of 1983. This would mean that the novel Christine was at least published before the novel Pet Semetary. Additionally, Christine was made into a movie in 1983, while Pet Semetary was made into a movie in 1989.
